I’ve been extremely happy with the services received from Just Like Family in Lethbridge.
They have adapted to the changing needs of my grandfather and most importantly they worked to find a staff match that was best for him. They recognized early on that certain things that worked best for him didn’t fit for the staff person there. They discussed it with me and we tried someone they felt would be a better fit. She has been his main support ever since.
Having a consistent person who he likes is so important for someone with dementia needs.
Mostly the support he gets would be under the companion care type of category. This is great because he has no family living near him. They are able to check in on him and address needs the care facility he lives in just doesn’t have the staffing for. For example, the recreational staff might have about 8 people to support on a craft. My grandfather is at a point where he gets frustrated and impatient quickly and will then try to leave the area or dwell on negative thoughts. Having someone who has gotten to know him and foresee these issues allows him to stay involved and more content. Just Like Family has provided this support for him.
Mom’s caretaker called in sick and she needed someone to come in on short notice.
